There’s something I need to say.
If you’re an American citizen, Trump IS your president. Period.
Personally, I don’t think you can say you’re an American if you don’t accept the outcome of the election. Having your own view is good, but slamming down on our president is NOT ok. He is our commander in chief, and trust me, he isn’t leaving any time soon.
And the more you rebuke the result of the election, the more our country will separate and become weak.

I don’t really memorize them…well, I did have one of those memorized. But I think it’s the Holy Ghost: “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John 14:26)
It probably helps that my scriptures have a very large index, too…and are easily searchable online.

I TECHNICALLY know lots of Bible verses and can quote them on demand … but … not when I could actually use them. I’m like, “Well … there’s a verse in the Bible … that says something … that would be, um, you know … useful in this situation. I just can’t remember it … or what it was about … or where it’s from …”

Haha, I get that! But it’s awesome that you have a lot of verses memorized! Mainly I just have heard them talked about in church so I just know some of the phrases and the meaning of it and from there I can look it up.

Psalm 8 and 85:11 … an 23 (oh, hush … it’s not cliche!) and … the one about love. It’s in Corinthians … maybe. Mom neglected to have us memorize the actual positions of the verses when we were little… so I’m a little behind in that respect. 😉 And then I like Romans … I can’t remember specific verses. One of my favorites (can’t remember where it came from is) “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” I like it better than John 3:16, to be honest … I’m not sure if that makes me a bad Christian or … 😉 Just kidding; I know it doesn’t.

I love Psalm 23! It’s so poetic and awesome and I love the image of Jesus Christ as our shepherd. And that would be 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, I assume–that one is great too. (Don’t worry, I do not know any of these off the top of my head. I’m just looking them up right now.) Oh, I love John 3:16. Partly because of this great choir song I sang using the words from that, but also because it’s so wonderful. God loves us enough to give His Son to suffer for us! But no, you’re not a bad Christian for that. 😛

Hehe, yeah, they’d be like, “Oh … okay … see your in three years then, I guess …?” XD Anyway, that would be me. Just reading the Bible through in a year is suuuuuuch a stretch for me! I’m a fast reader with everything else, but with the Bible, I feel like I should go slowly, you know, and actually … take it in? Of course I should … but it’s hard when you’re reading four chapters a day!

I’ve actually never read the Bible all the way through…I’m a little bit ashamed to say that right now is my first time reading the New Testament past the four gospels… I read parts of the Old Testament last year for seminary, but we skipped some parts (thankfully).
4 chapters is kind of crazy! Maybe you could just take one principle you learned from each chapter after you’ve read it and write it down. That way, you’d get something out of it, but it wouldn’t take too long, and by the end of the year you’d have lots of things you learned!

I’ve only read it through once because my parents decided our whole family was going to read through the Bible in two years. It was really hard … and I hope we never do that again. It seemed to my ten-year-old self like it was HOURS every evening … 😉
Parts of the Old Testament are pretty boring. I mean, I like weird names as much as the next girl, but sometimes reading paragraphs worth of “he begot him and then died at this age” gets a little … ugh. The minute descriptions of the temple and the priest’s clothing and such aren’t exactly captivating, either … though I suppose it’s nice to know how they looked and such.
Well, I do want to read through it in a year. And it isn’t always four chapters … sometimes it’s less.

Haha. We actually have an illustrated and simplified version of the Book of Mormon (although there’s so many illustrations that it takes up 8 volumes)…but it’s kind of almost graphic. 😛 All of the wars are illustrated in great detail! 😉

Well, it’s a record comparable to the Bible (and a companion to it) that is the record of the people in the ancient Americas. It’s written by the righteous prophets of that time and, like the Bible, it talks about them and their stories. The culminating point of the book is when Jesus Christ appears to those in the Americas after his resurrection.
If you do want to know more…honestly, you should just read it. It’s amazing and I know it has helped me. But of course I’ll try my best to answer any questions. 😀

No problemo! 😉 And you should! Well, it’s similar language to the Bible (KJV), but to me it’s a little bit easier than that. Of course, if you’re comparing it to something like the NIV, the language is more old-fashioned and might be harder to understand. I personally think it’s a little more straightforward than the Bible, but that could just be me. Probably the hardest part to understand is when one of the prophets (Nephi) is quoting Isaiah, but that’s already in the Bible, so you’ll have some experience. 😉 Does that answer your question?

Yes, it does. Thank you! But yeah, I read mostly KJV (and a couple other versions, I guess …), so I’ll probably be able to handle it. I mean, once you’ve read Jane Eyre, you can read anything, right? (Just kidding.)
How long is it? About Bible-length or a lot shorter?

True! I mean, I skimmed a lot of the parts in Jane Eyre because I didn’t understand it…probably not something a good reader would do, but…yeah.
Well, my Bible is 1590 pages, and my Book of Mormon is 531 pages (there’s lots of footnotes in both of them), so it’s almost exactly 1/3 of the size. (I just calculated it and it’s .3339 which makes me happy ’cause it’s so close to a perfect fraction. 😛 ) Anyway, as another reference, it’s a little bit bigger than the New Testament.
